Bertam running a 1360 Peugeot.205 XS(CS28), Andy Watson in A VW Scirroco (CS21), It was a temporary car for Andy as he was desperate to race but his class 9 he was building was taking longer than expected. He thourghly enjoyed himself and I spent many races chewing his back bumper but not managing to get past. Another building a class 9 was Jimmy Plain(CS42), thought he would try his hand in the stock hatch but he done the meeting decided he hated front wheel drive and promptly put the car up for sale. It was later bought by Paul Bremner (CS37). We Were also joined by Andy Fraser(CS30) in a Corsa 1400. A lot of good banter was had between the Stockhatch drivers. I had clipped Andy Fraser in the ¼ panel in one of our races. When we pulled off and parked up, I jumped out my car, gave his panel a good thump from the inside to straighten it and said to him “ now you can see what damage I did to you car”. The icing on the cake for the 2007 season was winning the Stock Hatch club championship.

Autograss (pt 1)
Welcome to the part of the website dedicated purely to Autograss Racing. This is the bit where I will put a bit about my ( Mike’s) autograss racing.

I started Racing with Solway Autograss club in 2005 after trying Stock rods at Cowdenbeath and Knockhill. I didn’t really enjoy the stock rods and had fancied a go of the Autograss Racing. I had ruled out Autograss initially and had decided to stockrod racing purely because it

was another 100 + miles further to travel to race Autograss. After Doing 6 meeting in the Stock Rod (3 at Cowdenbeath Racewall & 3 at Knockhill on the tri-oval), I was unsure as to my racing future as I hadn’t enjoyed the stockrods. The end of the 04 season I parked the Stockrod up and left it till I made a descion as to what I was going to do. My Brother made me a deal, he’d build me a class 2 or stockhatch in exchange for the stockrod as they were less work to build.

The car we used (pug 205 XR) dictated a Stockhatch and the stock hatch got built over the winter and was ready for the second meeting of the 05 Season. I made the trip (about 130 Miles each way). Unlike the stock rod I came off after my first race with a huge smile on my face, having really enjoyed racing on the loose surface.

I remember taking off from the start line, getting to the first corner in last, driving into and through a cloud of dust only to discover the other cars were all pointing in various directions but every one made it without nay real damage. I run round the track to tell my Mum and Dad how much fun it was. At that point I decided that was the way to go. Over that year I only manage 3 meetings in total that year due to the distance I had to travel to race.

Luckily the following season a few of us managed to gain enough interest in autograss in the Central Scotland area and through contacts, promotion and a lot of hard work Central Scotland Autograss Club came into exsistance in 2006. I managed to complete the whole season in at CSAC (Central Scotland Autograss club). Although there was only 4 meetings in total a one dayer and three, two day meetings, we had to use 2 different fields due to planning issues. An I managed a trip back down to Solway as well. I finished 2nd in the Overall club title beat by Simon Laing CS69 who I had a great season Racing against and a lot of friendly banter.

2007 saw the third season for my 205 pug Stock Hatch return for it third season of racing, aswell as a return to the original Lochgelly site. A few panels were replaced, a new paint job (based on the previous season and the ever present lovely shade of green) and some nice vinyl lettering. This was the best any of my car had looked. Season started off with the Stock hatch being mixed with the class 5 as there weren’t enough to make up a whole grid. One of the first races of this season saw Ian Robertson(CS24) debuting his rear engined RWD Metro class 5. He managed to get into the corner 2nd Just behind Solways Mark Little Class 3 (SL66). Ian slightly over cooked it and spun. The car in front of me narrowly avoided him. I think this may have been Bruce Bertram (fomerly CS28), I managed to Just clip Ian and got a yellow scar on my car as a trophy. No real Damage was done and we both went on to finish the race.

Mid 2007 we managed to get enough stock hatches to allow them to be run as a seperate class and some really good races were had My self Racing a 1360 Peugeot 205 XL running the xs Carb(CS264). Bruce
